LINCOLN, Neb. - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team dropped their first match of the season with a 4727-4721 loss to Nebraska on Sunday, Oct. 25.
The Nanooks are now 3-1, 3-1 PRC. They were outshot in smallbore 2356-2342, but outshot the Cornhuskers 2379-2371 in air rifle. In the individual standings, Alaska had four in the top 10, including
Marshall Schmidt posting the top score. He placed first with an aggregate score of 1188-89x.
Teagan Perkowski placed fourth, shooting an 1179-83x.
Lucie Kissenberger and
Sadie Palfrey were the final Nanooks in the top 10 with Kissenberger placing sixth with an aggregate score of 1178-72x and Palfrey took 10th with an 1171-69x.
In smallbore, the Nanooks were outshot by 14 points (2356-2342).
Marshall Schmidt led the blue and gold with a second-place finish in smallbore, shooting a 590-39x.
Lucie Kissenberger followed with a fifth-place finish in smallbore, shooting a 588-31x.
Noah Meierotto and
Sadie Palfrey rounded out the top 10 finishes in smallbore with a seventh and an eighth place finish. Meierotto fired a 584-32x and Palfrey shot a 584-31x.
Teagan Perkowski (580-26x) placed 11th,
Nicole Berger (579-23x) placed 12th,
Matthew Stout (575-26x) placed 15th,
Nate Kauffman (575-22x) placed 16th,
Hannah Dufresne (574-21x) placed 17th, and
Marley Bowden placed 18th with a 573-24x.
In air rifle, the Nanooks outshot Nebraska by eight (2379-2371) and finished with four in the top five and five in the top 10.
Teagan Perkowski fired the top score in air, shooting a 599-57x.
Marshall Schmidt followed right behind his teammate with a 598-50x, good for second.
Hannah Dufresne placed fourth, shooting a 596-48x and
Marley Bowden placed fifth with a 595-52x.
Lucie Kissenberger was the final Nanooks shooter in the top 10, placing ninth with a 590-41x.
Sadie Palfrey took 13th with a 587-38x,
Matthew Stout placed 14th with a 586-39x, and
Nate Kauffman placed 15th with a 586-38x.
Noah Meierotto (585-38x) and
Nicole Berger (580-33x) rounded out the Nanooks in air rifle, placing 17th and 18th.
Alaska returns to action at home on Saturday, Nov. 7 when they host the University of Akron.
