EL PASO, Texas - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team moved to 3-0, 3-0 PRC with a 4722-4670 win over the UTEP Miners on Friday, Oct. 23.
Alaska outshot UTEP in both disciplines, beating them in smallbore 2338-2310 and in air rifle 2384-2360. The Nanooks also had five in the top five, and seven in the top 10 individual aggregate scores.
Marshall Schmidt led the way with an aggregate score of 1182-88x.
Noah Meierotto followed in second with an 1180-73x.
Teagan Perkowski rounded out the top three with an 1178-83x.
Lucie Kissenberger and
Sadie Palfrey placed fourth and fifth with scores of 1178-73x and 1177-68x.
Marley Bowden and
Hannah Dufresne were the final Nanooks in the top 10. Bowden placed eighth with an aggregate of 1173-72x and Dufresne finished ninth with a score of 1172-74x.
In smallbore, Schmidt led the way with a score of 586-34x. He was one of three Nanooks in the top five and six in the top 10.
Noah Meierotto was the next Nanooks shooter in smallbore, placing third with a 585-28x.
Lucie Kissenberger followed in fourth, also shooting a 585-28x.
Teagan Perkowski,
Marley Bowden, and
Sadie Palfrey were sixth, seventh, and eighth. Perkowski posted a smallbore score of 582-31x, Bowden shot a 580-27x, and Palfrey followed with a 580-23x.
Nicole Berger and
Hannah Dufresne placed 11th and 12th with scores of 577-21x and 576-26x.
Matthew Stout and
Nate Kauffman rounded out the smallbore scores for Alaska with a 573-21x and 565-18x, respectively.
Alaska won the air rifle discipline by 24 points, and took position one through seven in the top 10 for air rifle.
Sadie Palfrey led the way with the high score in air rifle. She posted a 597-45x. Just behind in second, third, and fourth was
Marshall Schmidt,
Teagan Perkowski, and
Hannah Dufresne. They all shot a 596 with x-counts separating each in placement. Schmidt took second with a 596-54x, Perkowski took third with a 596-52x, and Dufresne took fourth with a 596-48x. Naoh Meierotto capped off the top five with a 595-45x. Just behind in sixth was
Lucie Kissenberger, also shooting a 595-45x and
Marley Bowden took seventh with a 593-45x.
Matthew Stout was the final Nanooks shooter in the top 10, firing a 592-43x.
Nate Kauffman and
Nicole Berger wrapped up the scoring for the Nanooks with a 588-43x and 588-39x, respectively.
Alaska travels to Lincoln, Neb. to face Nebraska on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 5 a.m. AK.
