Nanooks Fall in Game Two Against Boston University

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team fell to the Boston Terriers on Saturday, Oct. 3. BU earned a 4-0 win over the Nanooks, dropping Alaska to 0-2-0 on the season.

How it Happened
The two sides were tied at 0-0 for the first 43:43 of the night. Unfortunately, four goals in the third by the Terriers played the difference in tonight's game. The Nanooks managed to kill three first-period power plays for BU, keeping them off the board in the opening 20 minutes. Boston put up nine shots-on-goal in the opening period while Alaska had just three. In the second, the Nanooks doubled their shots, posting six, while the Terriers put up nine again.

Five of the Nanooks' six shots-on-goal in the second came while on the power play. They had three looks at the man-advantage but could not capitalize and the score remained 0-0 heading into the third period. 3:43 into the third, Haoxi (Simon) Wang gave BU the lead, and scored the eventual game-winner. Just under eight minutes later, the Terriers added another with Kamil Bednarik beating Nanooks' netminder Tyler Shea through the five-hole after a neutral zone turnover.

BU added two more empty-net goals, one 17:42 into the third by Caleb Malhotra and another 18:16 into the third by Tynan Lawrence.
