FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team moved to 1-0, 1-0 PRC with a convincing 4723-4674 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday, Oct. 16.
The Nanooks outshot OSU in both disciplines and had 46 more X-counts than the Buckeyes. In smallbore, the Nanooks outshot Ohio State 2334-2305. Alaska claimed the top four individual spots in the smallbore standings with
Lucie Kissenberger leading the way. She shot a 587-30x and was followed closely by
Teagan Perkowski. Perkowski shot a 586-32x.
Noah Meierotto and
Marley Bowden were the final two in the top five for the Nanooks as they shot a 584-35x and 583-25x, respectively.
Matthew Stout and
Marshall Schmidt took sixth and seventh with a 579-26x and 577-32x.
Hannah Dufresne placed ninth in smallbore with a 577-23x, and
Sadie Palfrey rounded out the top 10 with a 576-25x.
Nate Kauffman and
Nicole Berger fired a 575-17x and 559-19x to round out the Nanooks.
In air rifle, the Nanooks bested Ohio State by 20 points, outfiring them 2389-2369.
Teagan Perkowski stole the show with a perfect 600-51x on opening day.
Marshall Schmidt followed behind with another impressive outing, shooting a 599-57x.
Noah Meierotto and
Lucie Kissenberger followed in fourth and fifth with a pair of 595's. Meierotto had the edge in X-count, 46-45.
Marley Bowden shot a 594-47x, and
Sadie Palfrey shot a 594-43x.
Hannah Dufresne took ninth with a 593-46x,
Nate Kauffman took 10th with a 593-42x,
Matthew Stout took 11th with a 590-45x, and
Nicole Berger shot a 581-32x, good for 17th.
In the overall standings, Perkowski placed first with an aggregate score of 1186-83x.
Lucie Kissenberger finished second with an 1182-75x aggregate. Alongside first and second, the Nanooks placed fourth through ninth.
Noah Meierotto placed fourth with an 1179-82x. Bowden took fifth with an 1177-72x. Schmidt placed sixth with an aggregate of 1176-89x.
Sadie Palfrey took seventh with an 1170-68x, and
Hannah Dufresne and
Matthew Stout took eighth and ninth with an 1170-65x and 1169-71x, respectively.
The Nanooks and Ohio State are back in action at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning at TVSA.
