Nanooks Go Toe-to-Toe with Nationally-Ranked Boston University Before Falling in OT

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell in their regular season opener on Friday, Oct. 2. No. 15/16 Boston University won 2-1 OT with the winner coming just over a minute into the 3v3 overtime period.

How it Happened
Boston University scored early, making it 1-0. Jack Murtagh put the Terriers up just 3:58 into the opening period, using an assist from Tynan Lawrence to give BU the early advantage. It took the Nanooks less than three minutes to find the equalizer in the first as Linden Burrett buried a shot in the back of the net from the point. Misha Danylov picked up the primary and Jhett Larson earned the secondary.

Neither side scored in the second or third and went into overtime with a 1-1 tie. 1:18 into the overtime period, Tynan Lawrence found the back of the net for Boston with the winner. After Tyler Shea managed to make two scrambling saves for Alaska, Lawrence scored the winner, beating Shea as he tried to reposition himself.
