ITHACA, N.Y. - The Nanooks hockey team fell in game one of their two-game series at Cornell. With the loss, Alaska moves to 5-12-1 this season.
How it Happened
The Big Red got on the board first, scoring 2:48 into the first period on an Aiden Long goal. Alaska found the equalizer at the 14:00 mark of the first on the power play.

Nathan Rickey shared the puck before finding
Michael Citara to the left of the net. The wing entered the slot and snapped a shot past Cornell netminder Alexis Cournoyer.
The tie carried into the second period but 6:52 into the middle stanza Chase Pirtle scored the eventual game-winner. Cornell added one more in the second to make it 3-1 heading into the third. Unfortunately, in the third, the Big Red added four goals, two on the power play, to earn the 7-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Alaska posted 20 shots on goal today. Cornell had 32.
- Calvin Vachon made the start in net for Alaska and made 20 saves. Zak Brice played the final 9:16 and made five saves.
- Peyton Platter moves to 12 points on the season with his assist on Citara's goal. Nathan Rickey now has nine points on the year with his assist.
- Michael Citara scored his team-leading 17th point with his eighth goal of the year.
- Today was Braden Birnie's 99th career game. His next appearance will be his 100th career game, all coming with Alaska.
