FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks Nordic skiing team has announced that P.J. Bragonier has committed to joining the Nanooks next season.
"We are excited to invite another homegrown Fairbanks talent to the roster!" said assistant coach Ben Buck. "FXC has developed numerous highly talented athletes over the years, and P.J. is no exception. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him during the next stage of his academic and athletic career."
Bragonier, a Fairbanks native, attended West Valley High School and skied for FXC. While there, he qualified for the Junior National Championships every year he was eligible and earned a spot on the All-State Ski Team. At the Junior National Championships in 2023, Bragonier placed 23rd in the classic sprint. In last season's U.S. Championships in Anchorage, he placed 62nd in the classic sprint and followed that result with a 72nd-place finish in the U.S. Super Tour freestyle sprint. Bragonier added a sixth-place finish in the freestyle sprint at the Besh Cup 3 & 4 at Birch Hill last January. He concluded the 2024-25 season at the National Junior Championships, taking 16th in the freestyle sprint.
Bragonier was named a UA Scholar at West Valley. He is the son of Ben and Carrie Bragonier and has one sibling, Estelle. He intends to study Biological Sciences at UAF.Â
