FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks Nordic ski team has announced the signing of Cole Flowers. Flowers is 6'1" and joins the Nanooks from West Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska.
"We have been watching Cole's development closely over the past two seasons, and we are thrilled to help him continue to grow and develop over the coming years!" Said assistant ski coach Ben Buck, "Cole is one of the top skiers to come out of Alaska in recent years, and we are very excited to be keeping talent like his in the state. A Junior Nationals runner-up in the sprint and a member of the National Training Group, Cole has proven himself ready to take the next step in his career and go toe-to-toe with the big dogs. We look forward to seeing what he achieves wearing the blue and gold!"
Flowers will enter as a freshman after graduating from West Anchorage High and competing for the Alaska Winter Stars. Alongside his second-place finish in the Junior National Sprint, he took fifth in the National U20 Sprint. Flowers was a two-time Alaska Nordic Skiing team state champion. Academically, he boasted a 4.34 high school GPA, was an IB diploma student and earned the seal of biliteracy in Spanish.Â
He is the son of Chris and Sharon Flowers and has one sibling; Cody. Intends to study aerospace engineering.Â
