Four Nanooks Earn CSC Academic All-American Honors

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks had three female student-athletes and one male student-athlete named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-America At-Large Teams. Kendall Kramer of the Nanooks ski team was selected to the First Team. Rachael Charles of the Nanooks rifle team was chosen to Second Team, and Charles' teammate, Sára Karasová, was named to the Third Team. On the men's side, also from the ski team, Philipp Moosmayer received Second Team honors. 

Kramer, a senior, becomes the second-ever Nanooks female student-athlete named a First Team CSC Academic All-American, joining Karasová, who earned the honor in 2023. This past season, Kramer posted on of the most successful ski seasons ever as an individual. She earned First Team All-RMISA honors, was a 2025 NCAA NC Skiing Championships Second Team All-American in the classic technique, and a First Team All-American and the National Champion in the 2025 freestyle technique, claiming the individual title. All of these accolades were paired with her 3.89 cumulative GPA while studying biological sciences and psychology. She becomes the third Nanooks skier named to the Women's At-Large team as well, joining Nichole Bathe (2016 - Second Team), and Alyson Mcphetres (2013 & 2014 - Third Team).

Rachael Charles was named to the CSC Academic All-American Second Team after a great year on the range with the Nanooks rifle team. Charles, a junior, was a pivotal piece to the Nanooks returning to the podium for the fourth-straight season. She posted an aggregate average of 1184.64 this season, good for third on the Nanooks roster, and 10th in the nation. She ended the season shooting scores of 590+ in air, and 1187+ aggregate scores in five of her final six matches. In addition to returning the Nanooks to the podium at NCAA's, Charles helped the Nanooks claim their fourth-ever Patriot Rifle Conference Championship with an aggregate score of 1190. At the NCAA Championships, Charles shined in her final career match, shooting an 1191 aggregate behind a career-high 595 in smallbore. She earned the silver medal in the individual smallbore finals, and with her 1191, took home the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships Most Outstanding Performer and CRCA Most Valuable Shooter honors. She also finished the season a three-time All-American, earning Second Team aggregate honors, Second Team air rifle honors, and her second First Team smallbore honor. She was also named a CRCA Scholastic All-American. Charles, a biological sciences major, earned this with a 3.88 GPA.

Sára Karasová was the final women's student-athlete named to the At-Large CSC Academic All-American list, earning Third Team honors. Karasová, formerly a 2023 At-Large CSC First Team Academic All-American, earned her second Academic All-American honor following her senior season with the 'Nooks. She became the first-ever 12x All-American for the Nanooks, rounding out her final year with a Second Team aggregate nod, her third First Team smallbore honor, and her first-career First Team air rifle honor. Karasová was second on the team in aggregate scoring with an average of 1185.59, good for ninth in the NCAA. At the 2025 PRC Championships, Karasová shot a career-high 1192 aggregate, lifting the Nanooks to their fourth-ever conference championship. She earned the 2025 NCAA Rifle NC Championship Elite 90 award, co-winning the award. Karasová earned the Third Team nod as a security and disaster management student with a 3.99 undergrad GPA and 3.94 grad school GPA.

Charles is the second women's rifle athlete to ever be named to the CSC At-Large Academic All-American Team while Karasová becomes the first repeat honoree since Danielle Lyons (2014/2015 - Swimming).

Joining the trio of Women's At-Large selections was the Nanooks lone Men's At-Large selection, Philipp Moosmayer of Nanooks ski. Moosmayer earned a Second Team nod after his success on the trails were paired with his 3.90 GPA while studying digital journalism. A year after not participating for Alaska in 2023-24, Moosmayer hit the the trails hard in 2024-25. In the second half of the season, his competition finishes continued to get better and better, posting his first top-10 finish on Feb. 8. He's then place eighth the following day, etching a new best-finish for the junior. On Feb. 22, Moosmayer grabbed his first collegiate victory, winning the RMISA Championship/NCAA West Regional in the 20k freestyle, winning a photo finish sprint to the finish line. Moosmayer's strong finish to the season carried over to the 2025 NCAA NC Skiing Championships where he earnd a pair of Second Team All-American honors in the classic and freestyle techniques. He added a 2024-25 Honorable Mention All-RMISA selection to his accolades this season. 

Moosmayer is the first men's skier named to a CSC Academic All-American Team since Tristan Sayre earned Third Team honors in 2020.
