Jett McCullough Signs with Hometown 'Nooks

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks men's basketball team added another signing for their upcoming 2025-26 season. Jett McCullough will stay put in Fairbanks, joining the Nanooks from Monroe Catholic High School.

"It's always exciting to sign an Alaskan player, and even more special to sign a local player," said head coach Frank Ostanik. "Nobody konws better than I do what Jett is capable of as a player. His feel for the game at both the offensive and defensive ends of the court and his extraordinary ability to shoot the ball make him a great addition to our program." McCullough, a 6-1 guard who hails from Fairbanks, was a standout at Monroe Catholic, playing for Coach Ostanik for the first three seasons before Ostanik became the Nanooks head coach again in 2024-25.

With the Rams, McCullough garnered both conference and state honors. He was a four-time All-Conference selection while earning All-State honors in both his junior and senior seasons. He was a First Team All-State pick as a junior and a Second Team All-State honoree as a senior. Alongside those individual honors, he helped the Monroe High School team to two Regional Championships. McCullough is a member of the 1,500-career point club, and earned 10 All-Tournament team nods throughout his four years on varsity. This season as a senior, McCullough averaged 22 points per game while going 115-136 (84.6%) from the free-throw line.

"In a world where loyalty is all too rare, Jett's decision to stay at Monroe after I departed speaks volumes about his character," added Ostanik. "With Jett, we know we are getting a tough-minded young man who is not only passionate about the game of basketball, but also passionate about his teammates and the program. These values are consistent with what we want in our locker room and on the court at the University of Alaska."
