Nanooks Drop Road Contest to Biola on Saturday Afternoon

LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team (0-10, 0-2 GNAC) fell to the Biola Eagles on Saturday, 75-49, to conclude the 2025 portion of their schedule.

How it Happened
The Nanooks opened up a 4-1 lead after early baskets from Jazlynn Novelli and Genevieve Velasquez, but Biola scored the following 16 points unanswered to put Alaska in a 13-point deficit. Pearle Green ended the scoreless run with a three, and Tamai Mancuso and Desiree Redfox added two more threes to close the quarter, bringing the deficit back down to single digits at 22-16. Mancuso began the second with a layup before a 12-2 Eagles run put them up 34-20. Velasquez and Mancuso responded with a pair of made baskets, and Novelli drained a three with two minutes to go, but the 'Nooks entered the halftime break in a 10-point hole at 39-29.

Novelli led Alaska scorers with four points in the third, hitting a pair of two-point field goals, and the Nanooks entered the final 10 minutes trailing 58-36. Novelli began the scoring in the fourth by knocking down a jumper before Emily Freeman sank threes on back-to-back possessions. Velasquez added a two-point jumper later in the quarter for her 10th point of the contest, but that was their final field goal, and the Nanooks fell to the Eagles.
