FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team has officially punched its ticket to the postseason, earning its first-ever berth in the NCAA DII Volleyball Tournament. The Nanooks, who closed the regular season at 23-5, 14-4 GNAC, will enter the 2025 NCAA West Region Championships as the No. 5 seed.
Alaska's historic season included capturing a share of the GNAC Championship—the first conference title in program history. Their performance secured the Nanooks' place in a deep and competitive West Region field that features:
- Point Loma Sea Lions (PacWest) – Host
- Simon Fraser Red Leafs (GNAC)
- Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (PacWest)
- Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (GNAC)
- Alaska Nanooks (GNAC)
- Western Washington Vikings (GNAC)
- Central Washington Wildcats (GNAC)
- Cal State San Bernardino Yotes (CCAA)
The Nanooks will open regional play against in-state rival and No. 4 seed Alaska Anchorage on Thursday, Dec. 4, with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m. PST in San Diego.
The winner of the first-round matchup will advance to the round of 32 on Friday, Dec. 5 and face the winner of the (1) Point Loma/(8) Cal State San Bernardino match.
