Nanooks Come Up Short on the Road at Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - The Nanooks hockey team (2-6-0) fell to the Wisconsin Badgers (4-0-2) on Saturday, Oct. 25.

How it Happened
The Nanooks struck first in Madison this afternoon, but the Badgers scored four unanswered to grab the win and weekend sweep. Nathan Rickey got the Nanooks on the board with his first goal of the season from the blue line. The defenseman made it 1-0 Alaska 8:55 into the opening period. The 1-0 lead stood until Quinn Finley of Wisconsin tied the game with 21.5 seconds remaining in the first. That goal came on the power play after William Fleet was given a five-minute major and 10-minute game misconduct for a hit to the head.

Both sides were scoreless in the second period. Only 1:04 into the third, the Badgers picked up the game-winner on a Logan Hensler goal. Blake Montgomery added to the lead, making it 3-1 only 56 seconds later. With 4:20 remaining in the game, Wisconsin added an empty-netter from Ryan Botterill.
