Nordic Skiing Participates in Utah Invite This Weekend

MIDWAY, Utah - The Nanooks ski teams are set to compete in the Utah Invite this Saturday and Sunday at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Trails in Midway, Utah.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks competed at the U.S. Nationals on Jan. 2-7, participating in a freestyle individual skate 10k, classic sprint, classic mass start 20k and skate sprint. Alaska took fifth place in the Nordic ski standings, finishing with 231 total points over the two RMISA races: the 10k freestyle and 20k classic mass start.

Kendall Kramer was the top finisher for the Nanooks in the 10k freestyle individual sprint, finishing second in the race with a 24:41.0. Tabitha Williams was the next closest finisher, taking 15th while posting a 26:29.4. On the men's side, Ben Dohlby collected a top-15 finish, placing 14th with a 22:35.2.

Kramer followed up her second-place finish in the 10k freestyle with a first-place finish in the 20k classic mass start, becoming national champion after beating out Utah's Erica Laven to take the top spot with a 58:17.2. Dohlby and Philipp Moosmayer took 10th and 11th in the men's race, finishing in 52:56.3 and 52:59.4.

RMISA Standings
The Nanooks sit in sixth place in the overall RMISA standings, having collected 231 points this season. They are fifth in the Nordic standings, with the women ranking third in the women's Nordic standings with 123 points and the men ranking sixth with 108 points this season. The men and women both sit in sixth place in the men's and women's overall standings.

What's to Come
Alaska is back in action next week with the Montana State Invite, hosted by Montana State on Jan. 24-26 at the Crosscut Mountain Sports Center in Bozeman, Mt. Two weeks later, they participate in the Denver Invite at the Maloit Park Trails in Minturn, Colo. on Feb. 8-9.
