FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team picked up an exhibition win over the Simon Fraser Red Leafs on Friday, Jan. 10.

Simon Fraser struck first in tonight's matchup. Nicco Camazzola made it 1-0 Red Leafs. SFU's 1-0 lead stood into the second period until
Peyton Platter tallied the equalizer. The freshman scored on a tip out front of the net after
Tyler Waram played the puck to the front of the net.
Bryce Monrean picked up the secondary assist on Platter's goal.Â
After a scoreless third period, the two sides went to a 3v3 overtime period. It didn't take long for Alaska to grab the win as
Matt Hubbarde buried the game-winner.

- Alaska managed to kill Simon Fraser's lone power play. Alaska went 0-2 on the power play.Â
- Nicholas Grabko made 19 saves in net tonight. Alaska posted 55 shots on goal against SFU, 16 in the first, 20 in the second and 17 in the third before a pair in the overtime period.Â
- The Nanooks won 36 of 53 faceoffs on the night. Kyle Gaffney led the way with 14 wins in 18 bouts. William Lawson-Body followed with seven wins in nine faceoffs.Â
