Nanooks Complete Exhibition Sweep of Simon Fraser

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team picked up a second-straight exhibition victory over Simon Fraser on Saturday, Jan. 11.

How it Happened
Alaska opened the scoring on Saturday night with a pair of first period goals. Luke Johnson tallied both to make it 2-0 Nanooks 11:48 into the game. The first was redirected off of his skate on a Dean Spak shot. Johnson cemented himself out front of the net before angling the puck into the back of the net. Nearly seven minutes later he found the back of the net again. Spak found him once again and Johnson quickly made it 2-0 Nanooks.

Simon Fraser struck back with a goal less than two minutes later, making it 2-1 going into the first intermission.

Haden Kruse extended the lead to 3-1 4:22 into the second before Fyodor Nikolayenya and Brendan Ross made it 4-1 and 5-1 before the second intermission. In the third, SFU pulled to within two at 5-3 but with 54 seconds remaining, Bryce Monrean scored one final time, giving the Nanooks a 6-3 exhibition win.
