PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletics Conference released the winners of its weekly awards on Monday afternoon. Alaska's Kendall Kramer earned GNAC Runner of the Week for women's cross country after her second-place finish at the Bill Roe Classic 6k run on Saturday morning.
Kramer finished with a 20:31.9, taking second overall behind Trinity Western's Constance Nankivell and helping Alaska take third place in the race. She was the top NCAA DII performer among a field of 120 runners at the event. This is Kramer's second Runner of the Week accolade of the season, earning her first ROTW after winning the Seawolf Throwdown. In addition to Kramer's second-place finish, fellow Nanook runner Rosie Fordham came in with a 20:45.9, good enough for fourth place in the race.
"Last week's meet presented an incredible opportunity for Kendall to compete with some of the most respected and talented runners in the west region," said assistant coach Conrad Haber. "She patiently executed her plan while also remaining malleable, making fantastic mid-race decisions to adapt to what was transpiring around her. I am really excited for what lies ahead."
The Nanooks are back in action on Saturday, October 12 when they travel to Romeoville, Ill., for the Lewis Crossover, hosted by Lewis University.
