Coach Scott and Nanooks Volleyball Announce 2024 Schedule

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks volleyball team officially has their 2024 season schedule. Alaska will have 12 home games and 17 road/neutral site games this year.

"We are looking forward to our 2024 season." said head coach Brian Scott, "We have built a schedule full of some great regional opponents as we travel to Hawaii and Irvine, Calif. to test us early in the year. We are excited to host the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic and food truck rally again and provide a great weekend of volleyball and food for our fans. We have three excellent opponents that will provide some great matches in front of a home crowd."

Alaska's non-conference schedule kicks off with a trip to Hawaii for the annual Alaska/Hawaii Challenge. Opponents are yet to be set, but the Nanooks will play four games in three days, opening 2024 August 29-31. They stay on the road the following week with Concordia-Irvine hosted tournament Sept. 5-7. They open up with CSU Dominguez Hills on Sept. 5, Colorado Christian and the host school CUI on Sept. 6, and finish with Azusa Pacific on Sept. 7. Their home schedule officially begins on Sept. 12 with day one of the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic (Sept. 12-14). Three games on each day will be headlined with the Nanooks at 7:00 p.m.; on Sept. 12, the Nanooks face Filician University, on Sept. 13 they'll face Slippery Rock and on day three the 'Nooks face UNC Pembroke. On the final day, Sept. 14, the Nanooks will host several food trucks in the Patty Center parking lot for a full Saturday of volleyball and food. This also wraps up the Nanooks' non-conference schedule and sends them into their GNAC schedule, beginning on Sept. 19.

"The GNAC looks to be very competitive again this year!" added Coach Scott, "I am certain that multiple GNAC teams will qualify for the NCAA Tournament and we will have to be at our very best each week if we hope to be one of them."

The 2024 GNAC schedule kicks off on the road at Western Washington on Sept. 19 before heading north to Simon Fraser on Sept. 21. Their GNAC home-opening week is slated for Sept. 26-28 when they welcome Western Oregon on Sept. 26 and Saint Martin's on Sept. 28. The Nanooks head to Seattle Pacific, the defending GNAC champions, on Oct. 3 and Montana State Billings on Oct. 5 before returning home for three-straight games in mid-October. They'll welcome Central Washington on Oct. 10, Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 12 and their in-state rivals, the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, on Oct. 17. The Oct. 10 game against CWU will be their annual Field Trip game for elementary schools and holds an 11:00 a.m. AKST start time. After back-to-back home weeks, the 'Nooks head back out on the road for the second half of the season; they open up with a road trip to Saint Martin's and Western Oregon on Oct. 24-26. They'll host a Halloween game against Montana State Billings before facing Seattle Pacific at home on Nov. 2.

Their final three road games will come on Nov. 7, 9 and 16 with trips to Northwest Nazarene (Nov. 7), Central Washington (Nov. 9), and Alaska Anchorage (Nov. 16). Their regular season will officially come to a close on Nov. 21-23 when they welcome Simon Fraser on Nov. 21 and Western Washington on Nov. 23 for Senior Day.
