Last Time Out
The Nanooks are fresh off of their first win at Alaska Anchorage since 2003. They used a big second-half performance to run away with a 65-49 victory. After shooting 27% in the first and taking a 21-17 lead, the Nanooks offense clicked and shot 46% from the floor while keeping UAA to a 32% outing in the second. The Nanooks also finished with 20 assists as a team, their second-most this season in a single-game.
Abdullahi Mohamed led the way with a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double while
Demarcus Hall-Scriven also posted a double-double, ending the night with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

- Over their last five games, the Nanooks are averaging eight steals per game. The most in a five-game stretch this season. On Jan. 27 at home, they posted a season-high 12 steals in their win over Western Oregon.
- After just one game of 10+ assists in the first six games, the Nanooks have posted 10+ in 11 of their last 12 games, including their current eight-game streak. In the last three games, they've posted 21, 19 and 20 assists, the top-three performances of the season.
- Abdullahi Mohamed has spearheaded the Nanooks' offense much of the season. Through 16 games and starts, the senior is leading the Nanooks in scoring at 15.8 points per game, good for fourth in the GNAC.
- He is also seventh in the conference with 6.5 rebounds per game on 104 total. Mohamed has more offensive boards than defensive with 54 and 50. He is 21st in the nation and first in the GNAC with 3.38 offensive rebounds per game. His 18 blocks leads Alaska and is third in the GNAC.
- Jaycson Bereal, Jr. has moved into second on the team in scoring with 9.5 points per game. He follows right behind Mohamed with 14 blocks on the season.
- As a team, the Nanooks are 40th in the nation and second in conference play with 4.1 blocks per game. Simon Fraser leads the conference with 4.2 per game and Fla. Southern leads the nation with 6.9.
- Central and Alaska are 3-3 over their last six matchups. Central Washington won the lone-matchup earlier this season in Fairbanks, taking a 69-65 victory on Jan. 13.
- Northwest Nazarene has taken the last three games from Alaska. Alaska is 1-9 in their last 10 games against NNU with their lone-win coming on March 3, 2022 in the GNAC Championships. Earlier this season the Nighthawks grabbed a win over Alaska in Fairbanks, 96-93 in 2OT on Jan. 11.

What's to Come
Following this week's slate of games, the Nanooks will have six games remaining in the regular-season. They'll return home on Feb. 15-17 for key matchups with Western Washington and Simon Fraser. They'll look to get back at both of them after falling on the road to both teams on Jan. 19 and 20. They'll then head on the road one final time on Feb. 22 and 24 for road games at Western Oregon and Saint Martin's. Alaska will end the regular-season at home this year with matchups against Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific on Feb. 29 and March 2 to wrap-up the regular-season.

Regional/National Rankings
The GNAC has three teams in the D2CSC West Region Top-10 rankings and a fourth receiving votes. Saint Martin's remains as the highest-ranked team out of the conference as they check-in at No. 2 in the West Region voting. In the national polls they are T-No. 9 in the D2CSC National Poll and No. 13 in the NABC Coaches Poll. Montana State Billings is next in line in the regional rankings, coming in at No. 6 with 32 points. Alaska Anchorage is the final GNAC team in the top-10 at No. 10 with three points. Northwest Nazarene received one vote in the latest poll; they were one of three teams to receive one vote.
