BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Nanooks ski team was led by
Kendall Kramer and
Rosie Fordham on day one of the RMISA Championships. The pair posted top-five finishes to lead the women's side.
Ben Dohlby was the top-finisher on the men's side.
The two teams raced in a 7.5k freestyle on Saturday morning with the women racing at 9:00 a.m. AKST and the men following at 10:30 a.m. AKST.
In the women's race,
Kendall Kramer was the high-finisher, taking home a podium appearance and third-place finish. She finished the 7.5k free in 21:11.2 and earned 34 points for the 'Nooks.
Rosie Fordham followed right in Kramer's tracks, finishing 11 seconds behind her teammate and in fourth-place overall with a finishing time of 21:22.6. Her fourth-place finish earned the 'Nooks 31 points.
The final scoring Nanooks racer for the women's team was
Mariel Pulles. She finished the freestyle in 12th-place with a time of 22:17.0.
Aila Berrigan and
Luise Graef were the final racers for the women's side and pushed through with 27th and 33rd-place finishes. Berrigan led the two with a time of 23:41.4 while Graef rounded out the finishes with a time of 25:20.5. The women's team had the second-most points among the women's Nordic teams, posting 84 points, trailing only Montana State, who had 93.
In the men's race, Dohlby was the high-finisher for the Nanooks. The freshman finished 14th-overall with a time of 20:20.3, earning 18 points for Alaska. Christopher was the next Nanook to finish, cracking the top-20 with a 20th-place finish and earning the 'Nooks 14 points. He finished the 7.5k freestyle in 19:29.3.
Mike Ophoff was the final Nanooks racer to earn points, taking 25th-overall with a time of 20:58.9 and scoring 13 points.
Aidan Hay and
Josh Baurick rounded out the men's finishers in 33rd and 34th, respectively. Hay finished ahead of Baurick with a time of 21:50.0 and Baurick followed in 22:23.9.
The two teams are back in action tomorrow morning in Bozeman.
