FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team fell to the LIU Sharks on Friday, Feb. 16. The loss drops the Nanooks to 12-13-2 on the year.
The Sharks grabbed a goal in each period to grab the shutout win on Friday. 8:02 into the first, Grayson Constable made it 1-0, taking passes from Riley Wallack and Adam Pitters to grab the game-winner. Alaska posted only five shots-on-goal in the first compared to LIU's 12.
In the second, Alaska had seven SOG but were kept off the board again. The lone goal came from Isaiah Fox on the power play 4:59 into the second. Fox's goal made it 2-0 and took us to the third. In the third, Chris Pappas netted LIU's third goal 7:35 into the period and Noah Kane tallied an unassisted, empty-net goal with 4.3 seconds left in the game to make it a 4-0 final.
The two sides do battle again tomorrow at 7:07 p.m. in the Carlson Center.
