FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team has announced another signing for the 2025-26 season in goaltender Calvin Vachon.
"Calvin is a very talented goalie who has quick reflexes, excellent positioning and composure under pressure," said head coach Erik Largen. "His work ethic and poise will bring a consistent element to our team. I believe he will develop into an elite goaltender at the college level and beyond."
Vachon is a 5-11, 165 pound goaltender from Redondo Beach, Calif. The netminder is in his second season with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. During the 2023-24 season, he appeared in 38 contests between the pipes, finishing the season with a 22-12-0 record while posting a 2.81 goals against average and .902 save percentage. Vachon would log two shutouts during his first season with Waterloo. This season has seen Vachon start nine contests in net for the Black Hawks, where he has notched a .906 save percentage and a 2.56 goals against average. He has compiled a 5-3-1 record so far this season, tallying one shutout.
Further signings for the Nanooks will be announced throughout the season.
