PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its 2024 cross country academic all-conference selections, presented by Barnes & Noble College.
In total, Alaska had 12 student-athletes represented across the two teams, with seven honorees from the women's team and five from the men's.
Senior Rosie Fordham was one of two women's seniors to post a 4.0 grade point average while being three-time selections. Fordham tied for the best GPA in the GNAC while studying Mathematics.
Senior Kendall Kramer was one of five GNAC women's cross country athletes to earn the honor for the fourth time, maintaining a 3.87 GPA while studying Biological Sciences. Teegan Silva earns the honor for the second time, working towards a 3.73 GPA while studying Geosciences. Sarah Baum joins Silva as a two-time recipient of the accolade, maintaining a 3.54 GPA while also studying Geosciences.
Other members of the GNAC women's cross country all-academic team were Abigail Haas, who kept a 3.30 GPA while studying Civil Engineering; Tabitha Williams, who recorded a 3.67 GPA while studying Digital Journalism and Delainey Zock, who earned a 3.91 GPA while studying Wildlife Biology.
On the men's side, Koen Ross became a three-time selection after maintaining a 3.51 GPA while studying Electrical Engineering. Ryan Owens joins Ross as a multiple-time member of the Academic All-GNAC team, earning the honor for the second time. Owens earned a 3.61 GPA while studying Chemistry.
Philipp Moosmayer collected the accolade after keeping a 3.90 GPA while studying Digital Journalism. Ben Dohlby, who studies Civil Engineering, earned the honor for the first time, having worked toward a 3.76 GPA. Finally, Josh Baurick rounded out Alaska's selections, as he kept a 3.22 GPA while studying Biological Sciences.
To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, must be in at least their second season competing for their team and must have competed on the course during the 2023 campaign.
The Nanooks are set to participate in the Lewis Crossover, hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., on Saturday, October 12. The men's race will start at 6:45 a.m. AKST/9:45 a.m. CST, while the women's begins at 7:30 a.m. AKST / 10:30 a.m. CST.
