PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon. Alaska's Kendall Kramer was named GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after her outing at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill. this past Saturday. This marks the third time she has received the honor this season, with the other two coming after the Seawolf Throwdown (Aug. 31) and Bill Roe Classic (Sept. 28).
Kramer took second in the race, finishing with a time of 20:54.40 in the women's 6k and trailing only Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge of Colorado School of Mines. Kramer posted a pace of 5:38/m and helped the Nanooks place fifth in the race with 200 points.
"We knew that there were going to be phenomenal athletes competing at Lewis, so it was important for Kendall to be patient and trust her instincts," said assistant coach Conrad Haber. "I think she did a great job of executing her race in what was a large field comprised of incredibly talented athletes."
The Nanooks return to action when they compete in the GNACÂ Championships in Bellingham, Wash., on Saturday, October 26.
