HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Nanooks hockey team fell to Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies picked up a 2-1 win over Alaska to drop the 'Nooks to 0-4-0 to open the 2024-25 season.
All of the scoring came in the first period. 3:30 into the first, Stiven Sardarian scored the opener for Tech, making it 1-0. 13 minutes later, Chase Pietila tallied the game-winner, making it 2-0 Huskies. Alaska managed to get one back on a
Chase Dafoe goal 18:29 into the first, but unfortunately that was it for scoring.
Matt Rickard picked up his first point with an assist and
Carson Reed also added a point with an apple.Â
Alaska saw only one power-play opportunity on the night; they went 0-1. MTU went 1-2; their second goal of the night came on the man-advantage.Â
The Nanooks outshot MTU 30-18. Alaska stays on the road at Notre Dame next weekend.Â
