Nanooks Men's Basketball Adds TJ Doman from Clackamas CC

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball program has announced the signing of 6-5 guard/forward TJ Doman from Woodburn, Ore.

Doman is set to join the 'Nooks from Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Ore. Clackamas is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) which competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). "TJ is a very versatile player and we are excited that he is joining the Nanook family." Said head coach Greg Sparling, "He plays extremely hard on both ends of the court and was coached very well by coach Cliff Wegner during his time at Clackamas CC. He has a very high IQ an we look forward to coaching him this coming season."

"I chose Fairbanks because of the great connection I felt with the coaching staff and the school as well as the hard working philosophy in which I wanted to be a part of." Added Doman on his signing with the Nanooks. 

Over the course of two seasons at Clackamas CC, Doman averaged 12.8 points per game on 58.1% shooting and 74.8% shooting from the free-throw line. He averaged 5.6 boards per game, 1.9 assists per game and 1.1 steals per game while adding 1.5 blocks per game. His best season came in 2022-23 when he played in and started all 32 games for the Cougars. While averaging 28.9 minutes per game, he scored 16.8 per game while shooting a lights out 58.5% from the floor. He added a 78.5% clip from the charity stripe while grabbing 7.6 boards per game, dishing 2.5 assists, blocking 1.8 shots and grabbing 1.3 steals per game. He helped lead the Clackamas CC Cougars to a 23-9 overall record and 13-3 NWAC record before their season came to an end in the NWAC Men's Basketball Semifinals.

"TJ Doman was a delight to coach and a great success story at Clackamas." Said Clackamas CC head coach Cliff Wegner, "In two years he went from a walk-on player to the best player on the best team in the league. He had a fabulous career as a student, athlete and leader. On top of that, he is an even better person. The entire Cougar community wishes him the best of luck and we truly feel Alaska will be getting an impact player in the GNAC in TJ."

Additional men's basketball signees will be announced in the coming summer weeks and months.
