STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team finished fifth in the CU Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational with 231 points. On day two, the women's team put up 78 points while the men's team posted 35.
On the second day, the team's competed in a 5k freestyle and 10k freestyle. On the women's side,
Mariel Pulles led the way for the Nanooks with a third-place finish and time of 15:32.3. This earned 34 points for the Nanooks.
Kendall Kramer followed in sixth-place with a finishing time of 16:06.2, earning the Nanooks 27 team points.
Aila Berrigan and
Sarah Olson finished the day for the Nanooks women's team, taking 18
th and 19
thwith times of 17:50.0 and 17:52.4, respectively.
On the men's side,
Mike Ophoff and
Christopher Kalev were the only two to participate in the men's 10k freestyle. Ophoff took 12
th with a time of 27:43.7 for 19 team points and Kalev took 15
th in 28:02.1 for 16 points.
The Nanooks stay on the road and head to the University of Denver next weekend for a Feb. 10-11 RMISA event.
