MINTURN, Colo. – The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team wrapped up the Denver Invitational at Maloit Park in Minturn, Colo. with a team score of 220. They grabbed a sixth-place finish and unfortunately were shorthanded in both the men's and women's races today.Â

In the Nordic women's 10k classic,
Mariel Pulles posted her second top-five finish of the weekend, grabbing a fourth-place and best-Alaska finish with a time of 38:16.3 for 31 team points. The next finisher for the Nanooks was
Sarah Olson. Olson led a trio of finishers who took 21
st, 22
nd and 23
rd place to round-out the scoring for Alaska on day two. Olson finished in 21
st-place with a time of 44:10.1 and grabbing 16 team points.
Abigail Haas followed only five second behind with a 22
nd-place finish and finishing time of 44:15.1 for 15 points, rounding out the team point scorers.
Aila Berrigan was the final Nanook to cross the line, grabbing a 23
rd-place finish with a time of 44:54.5.Â

Novie McCabe of Utah grabbed the individual win, finishing the 10k classic with a time of 36:22.3. Unfortunately for Alaska,
Kendall Kramer did not start the race. The women's team finished fourth in the day two women's team scores with 62 points. Utah grabbed the top-spot with 104 points.Â

In the men's race, the Nanooks only had two finishers. Unfortunately, Phillip Moosmayer did not finish the race for Alaska.
Christopher Kalev made a push for the top-10 but finished just outside with an 11
th-place finish and time of 33:02.2, picking up 23 points for the Nanooks.
Mike Ophoff finished just on his heels, trailing by only two seconds. He took 12
th and finished in a time of 33:04.9, scoring 22 points for the Nanooks.Â

In the men's 10k classic, Andreas Kirkeng of Denver grabbed the win with a time of 31:36.8. Alaska finished sixth in the day two team scores, posting 45 points between Kalev and Ophoff. Utah took the top spot on day two with 100 points and grabbed the Nordic victory with 403 points over the two days at the Denver Invitational.Â

The Nanooks will return to Alaska before heading to Anchorage for the UAA Invitational on Feb. 20-21 and the NCAA Regionals/RMISA Championships in Anchorage on Feb. 24-25.Â
