SEATTLE, WA – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team fell to the Falcons of Seattle Pacific 70-43, in their first conference matchup of the season.
Senior forward,
Emma Wass posted the first two points of the game, shooting 2-2 from the free throw line, to which the Falcons responded with four points of their own.
Taylor Tiulana fought against the response, assisting Wass to tie it up early in the first quarter. The fight would not be enough though to fend off the Falcon's seven-point run shortly after.
Kayla Johnson took the reins following the first quarter, leading the 'Nooks and tallying 13 points in the second alone. Even with the extra effort, the 'Nooks would head back to the locker room, looking to close an 11-point gap in the third quarter.
The Falcons posted the first point of the third quarter, which the Nanooks were unable to respond to until redshirt sophomore,
Taryn Lindsey pulled through and tallied her first two points of the matchup. She would continue to make her presence known from the baseline soon thereafter, assisting
Ellen Silva for a jumper. The Falcons effort though could not be held back as they increased their lead to 55-34 at the end of the third.
The Nanooks ultimately fell to the Falcons of SPU with a final score of 70-43 in their first conference matchup of the season. Johnson marked herself point leader for the 'Nooks with 15 of her own, right alongside a strong eight rebounds from Silva.
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team looks to rebound from the loss this Saturday, Dec. 2 when they face the Yellow Jackets of Montana State University Billings, in Billings MT.
