Last Time Out
The Nanooks are coming from a road trip to Fort Worth, Texas. Their last NCAA contest came on the road against TCU on Nov. 4-5, resulting in a pair of losses. The Nanooks fell to the Horned Frogs 4731-4710 in their road-opener. They were led by Rachael Charles, who posted an individual score of 1184 and took third in the individual standings. On day two, the Nanooks fell to TCU 4746-4721 and were led by Sára Karasová and Charles.

This is the first match-up for Alaska and Kentucky since seeing each other last season at The Fall Classic hosted by West Virginia. The last time the two met head-to-head was in 2016-17, seeing Alaska win 4671-4667. The Nanooks lead the all-time series 5-4.

Alaska last saw Akron in 2018-19 in a tri-match against Ole Miss and Akron, a match assistant coach Randi Loudin participated in as a student-athlete. The last head-to-head meeting between the two came in 2015-16, a match the Nanooks won, 4661-4598.

Charles currently ranks eighth in NCAA rifle for aggregate averages, averaging 1183.75 through four matches this season. Karasová follows in second for Alaska and 14th in the nation with an aggregate average of 1181.25.

Katrina Demerle is currently fourth in the nation in air rifle, averaging 596. Charles leads the 'Nooks in the smallbore national rankings as she's currently seventh with an average of 589.

Akihito Shimizu follows in third for overall aggregate average on the Nanooks roster. He currently holds an average of 1178. He has fired a 583 in smallbore on both Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 and fired a season-best in air (596) on Nov. 5.

What's to Come
The Nanooks head to the road at Air Force (Dec. 6), Navy (Jan. 20-21), Ohio State/Air Force (Feb. 1) and the PRC Championships (Feb. 3-4). They will not return home until Feb. 17, 2024, when UTEP comes to town for the NCAA Qualifier. The season will end at the NCAA Championships on March 8-9, 2024, at West Virginia.
