Hockey Nets Eight Goals in 8-1 Win at Stonehill

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Nanooks hockey team posted an eight-spot at Stonehill on Saturday, Nov. 11. With the win, the Nanooks improved to 6-3-1 on the season.

Four goals in the first and another four in the second headlined the day for Alaska as they ran away with the game early. Anton Rubtsov got the scoring started 3:00 into the first before Jonny Sorenson tallied the second 8:45 later. Nearly three minutes later, Xavier Jean-Louis tallied his first-career goal making it 3-0 Nanooks. It took only another five minutes for the 'Nooks to tally another first-career goal. Broten Sabo tallied his first-career goal 19:14 into the period, capping off the first and making it 4-0 Alaska.

Stonehill got on the board 5:46 into the second while on the power play, cutting the lead to 4-1, but Alaska answered back, and then some. 11:23 into the second, Jean-Louis tallied his second goal of the night making it 5-1 Alaska. Payton Matsui tallied the sixth goal of the night for Alaska just a minute later to make it 6-1, Brady Risk tallied the seventh 15:06 into the second and T.J. Lloyd picked up a power-play tally 19:52 into the second to make it 8-1 Nanooks.

Neither side would score in the third as Stonehill's four shots-on-goal in the third were stopped by Pierce Charleson and William Hambley and the Nanooks had all 13 SOG stopped by Skyhawks netminder Gavin FitzPatrick.

Charleson ended the day with 16 saves and Hambley played the final 11:29, making two saves on the two shots he saw.

Alaska now heads to Northern Michigan for a matchup with the Wildcats next weekend.
