PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced their 2023-24 Men's Basketball Preseason All-GNAC Team. The Nanooks had one student-athlete selected to the team. 

Abdullahi Mohamed was a unanimous selection for the rest of the GNAC coaches who voted for the Preseason All-GNAC Team. He was named to the team a year after receiving a 2022-23 GNAC Second Team All-Conference nod. He was also named to the Preseason All-GNAC season a year ago. The senior forward averaged 13.1 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game. Alongside that, he shot 49.5% from the floor, 41.2% from three and nearly 70% from the free-throw line. His 39 assists was third on the team and he was second in blocks with 18. Mohamed added 14 steals on the 2022-23 season. 

He recorded 18 games of 10+ points, including a season-high 26 on Nov. 25, 2022 against Texas A&M Int'l. That night he went 7-11 from the floor and 12-13 from the free-throw line while adding three rebounds and an assist. To end the season, Mohamed recorded double-digit points in 12-straight games, averaging 15.5 points per game through the final dozen games of the regular-season. Shaw Anderson of Seattle Pacific was selected as the 2023-24 Preseason Player of the Year. He was the lone SPU player on the list. Saint Martin's had a league-leading three selections with Jaden Nielsen-Skinner, Kyle Greeley and Tyke Thompson. Northwest Nazarene's Gabriel Murphy and Tru Allen were selected, Central Washington's Camron McNeil and Samaad Hector were selected. Western Washington had two selections to the team as BJ Kolly and Kai Johnson represented the Vikings. Western Oregon was represented by Cameron Benzel, Montana State Billings had Zharon Richmond selected and Alaska Anchorage had Dathan Satchell selected.
