Matt Radomsky Brings Home the Hockey Commissioners Association December Goaltender of the Month Honor

FAIRBANKS – Alaska netminder, Matt Radomsky, was named the Hockey Commissioners Association December Goaltender of the Month following wins against UAA and nationally-ranked Notre Dame.

"Matt [Radomsky] has worked extremely hard all season and it is nice to see him get recognition for it." Said head coach Erik Largen, "Not only is Matt an elite goaltender, but he is also an elite person and teammate. We are so proud of him and all his accomplishments." Radomsky comes away with the national recognition following an impressive 5-0 record during the month of December. In that stretch of five games, Radomsky posted a 1.04 GAA and a save percentage of .955. He ended the month with a 3-2 win at Notre Dame that saw his streak of 170 shutout minutes come to an end.

Before the win at ND, Radomsky was 4-0 in four-straight matchups with the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves to help the Nanooks claim the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup for the 12th-straight year. In the final two games at UAA on Dec. 16-17, 2022, Radomsky started his shutout streak with back-to-back shutouts of Anchorage. Radomsky appreciated the individual honor but looked to his teammates with praise for being there along the way, "I'm very honored to have been named the Hockey Commissioners Association December Goalie of the Month. Although this award is given to an individual, I believe it reflects a collective effort made by my teammates, coaches and the staff at Alaska. Their support on and off the ice has allowed for this opportunity to be possible. I can't thank them enough. I'm so appreciative and grateful to be part of this program and for their hard work."

The Nanooks ended December 5-0 with four-straight wins against UAA before splitting the series at Notre Dame, winning on New Year's Eve and falling on New Year's Day. Radomsky in that span allowed only five goals while making 105 saves. He allowed 1.04 goals per game and added an assist on Dec. 16, 2022 in the Nanooks' 4-0 win over Anchorage.

The Nanooks now travel to Denver where they'll meet the #1/2 Pioneers on Jan. 6-7 at Magness Arena.
