HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team had another solid day at the Tech Trails on day two of the RMISA Qualifiers. Today they participated in a classic sprint.
Christopher Kalev led the way for the men's team, earning a sixth-overall finish and trip to the A Finals where he posted a finals time of 3:00.11. This came after a semifinals time of 2:58.87 and a quarterfinals time of 2:54.14 in which he advanced as the lucky loser. With his finals appearance and time of 3:00.11, he finished fourth in the RMISA standings.
Mike Ophoff was the next Nanook in the RMISA standings, finishing ninth after reaching the quarterfinals and posting a time of 2:55.56. Overall, he took 19
th-place.
Josh Davies took 49
th-overall (25
th RMISA) with a time of 3:02.60,
Josh Baurick took 104
th (30
th RMISA) with a time of 3:10.05,
Philipp Moosmayer took 111
th-overall (32
nd RMISA) with a time of 3:10.92 and
Max Beiergrohslein took 159
th (37
th RMISA) with a time of 3:17.78 to round out the men's finishers.
On the women's side,
Mariel Pulles and
Kendall Kramer pushed through to the A Finals where Pulles finished second-overall with a finals time of 3:23.04. With the second-place finish, she also took first-place in the RMISA standings. Kramer took fifth-overall and fourth in the RMISA with a finals time of 3:27.65.
Abigail Haas was the third Nanooks women's racer, finishing 47
th-overall and 17
th in RMISA standings with a time of 3:42.21.
Rosie Fordham took 73
rd (21
st RMISA) with a time of 3:47.58,
Sarah Olson took 91
st (24
thRMISA) with a time of 3:51.74 and
Aila Berrigan rounded out the women's finishers with a 104
th-overall finish and 26
th-place in the RMISA standings with a time of 3:55.04.
Haas advanced to the semifinals of the women's junior race before taking fourth in the semifinal heat one with a time of 3:47.54.
The Nanooks will next compete in the classic mass start on Friday, Jan. 6.
