1/12/2023 12:00:00 PM

FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks and Fort Wainwright have announced their January 2023 Warriors of the Month. Warrior of the Month is a partnership between Fort Wainwright and the Nanooks, highlighting military members and student-athletes who excel on and off the court, in the classroom and on base or in the field. Each month a warrior is selected from Fort Wainwright, UAF Army ROTC and a female and male student-athlete.

Matt Radomsky, Senior, Goaltender, Hockey, 4.00 Cumulative GPA, Psychology
In only his first year with the Nanooks hockey program, Matt has become a strong presence in the locker room. He is often the first one on the ice and the last to live while also doing extra work and helping younger players develop their skills. As a transfer, he's been a part of building a great culture within Alaska hockey. Not only has Radomsky been a top-10 goalie in college hockey this season, but he has also been a leader and great example off the ice and in the classroom. He has hosted and helped at goaltending camps, he's provided dressing room tours with different groups of people at local events and he's provided assistance with setup and teardown at local election areas. He has also assisted with local hockey teams as an on-ice goalie coach for their skates.

On the ice in the month of December 2022, Radomsky was named the Hockey Commissioners Association Goalie of the Month following a perfect 5-0 record in net, including a 4-0 record against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, back-to-back shutouts on the road in Anchorage, a 170-minute shutout streak, a 1.04 goals allowed average, .955 save percentage and finally, a 3-2 win on New Year's Eve at #19/17 Notre Dame.

Quote from head coach Erik Largen, "Matt has worked extremely hard all season and it is nice to see him receive lots of recognition over the last few weeks. Not only is Matt an elite goaltender, but he is also an elite person and teammate. We are so proud of him for winning the January Warrior of the Month honor after being named the HCA Goalie of the Month in December."

Rilee White, Sophomore, PIN, Volleyball, 4.00 Cumulative GPA, Biological Sciences
Rilee White just wrapped up her sophomore season as a Nanooks volleyball player and according to head coach Brian Scott and assistant coach Meagan Woods, she exemplifies all of the qualities they want their student-athletes to have. She is hard-working, dedicated and does whatever she is asked without hesitation. She is a lead-by-example athlete which is one of the reasons she served as a 2022 team captain. She is a great human being and excels in everything she does while also continuously being a hard-worker. She is majoring in Biology and has maintained a cumulative 4.00 GPA. She'll be graduating this spring and starting her masters in the fall until she completes her athletic eligibility. White is a very kind and compassionate person and is always willing to help anyone in anyway she can. During her time in Fairbanks, White has participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has spent time volunteering at the Fairbanks Food Bank and Ravens Landing.

She is a great role model and is always willing to help and volunteer her time. She's a very dedicated student and puts a lot of time and energy into her studies. When there are team activities or recruits in town, she is always willing to give her time to help or make sure recruits have a great experience.

Quote from head coach Brian Scott, "Rilee is such a great choice as Warrior of the Month. She exemplifies everything coaches look for in athletes. She is driven to succeed! It shows in all she does on the court, in her studies, the weight room, and in the community. Most amazing is all her hard work and effort is done with a smile and great attitude. She is always a positive influence for good and represents our program and the university well in all she does."
