FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks athletic department and Director of Athletics, Dr. Brock Anundson, have named Palmer Trolli as the Head Athletic Trainer. Trolli, who joined the Nanooks at the beginning of 2022, elevated after joining as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
"We are excited to elevate Palmer Trolli into the Head Athletic Training role." Said Anundson, "His experience, professionalism, and vision for the future of Nanooks Athletic Training are all traits we were looking for. His innovative approach will be a valuable asset to our student-athletes."
During his first season with the Nanooks, Trolli served as the main athletic trainer for the Nanooks' NCAA Division I hockey team. He worked all home games and traveled with the team for all of the 2022 games during their 2021-22 season.
"I am honored to accept the role as Head Athletic Trainer here in Fairbanks." Said Trolli, "I am excited to have a larger role with our student athletes and get the chance to work with more people along the way. Looking forward to bringing in some assistant athletic trainers who will make a big impact on our student athletes."
Trolli joined the Nanooks at the 2021-22 semester break after spending 11 months as the Assistant Athletic Trainer of Florida Southern College. He was assigned to the men's lacrosse, women's track & field and cross country, men and women's golf, cheerleading and club hockey team. He assisted other trainers in rehab and event coverage. Prior to his time at Florida Southern, Trolli was the Assistant Trainer at Warner University from Nov. 2018 through Dec. 2020. While at Warner U, Trolli worked specifically with men's soccer, softball, men and women's basketball and the cross country and track & field teams.
Trolli spent four years as their Head Athletic Trainer at Dock Mennonite Academy in Landsdale, Penn. from August 2014 through November 2018. There he managed care and prevention of injuries for 19 different sports. He worked closely with physical therapists in the surrounding area to keep athletes participating at the highest competition. While also serving as the Head Trainer at Dock Mennonite Academy, Trolli also spent three years as an Athletic Director Administrative Assistant, assisting in day-to-day operations, scheduling, registration and website maintenance.
He completed internships at ESPN in Orlando, Fla. as well as with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL. For ESPN, Trolli provided on-field supervision and acute care for numerous National Championship events. For the Flyers he provided care during practices and games while also prescribing and monitoring preventative and rehab exercises.
Palmer Trolli graduated from Neumann University in May 2014 with a B.S. in Athletic Training with a minor in Strength and Conditioning. He then earned a Master's of Science in Sports Management from California University (PA.) in May 2018.
