FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks cross country team was well represented on the GNAC 2022 All-Academic Cross Country team presented by Barnes & Noble College. Four from the men's team and five from the women's team met the criteria to earn the All-Academic honors.
From the men's team, the Nanooks had
Jack Cater,
Nolan Earnest,
Mike Ophoff and
Koen Ross. This was Ophoff's third honor, Cater and Earnest's second and Ross' first.
Jack Cater is a sophomore from Fairbanks, Alaska and has maintained a 3.50 GPA while studying Engineering. Earnest, another Fairbanks local, is a sophomore who has worked towards a 3.93 while studying Film & Performing Arts. Ophoff earned his third honor while studying Engineering. The junior from Cista u Horek, Czech Republic has maintained a 3.46 GPA.
Finally,
Koen Ross, a sophomore from Castle Rock, Wash., has maintained a 3.72 GPA while studying Engineering.
On the women's side, the Nanooks were led by a 4.00 GPA by
Kendall Kramer. This was her second time on the GNAC All-Academic team. The sophomore from Fairbanks, Alaska has maintained her 4.00 GPA while studying Psychology. Also joining Kramer for the second time was
Mariel Pulles. Pulles, a junior from Oteppa, Estonia, has kept a 3.65 GPA while studying Business Administration.
The other trio of runners on the list are all sophomore. First,
Naomi Bailey, who is from Fairbanks, and has earned a 3.71 GPA while studying Biological Sciences.
Rosie Fordham, from Sydney, Australia, has worked towards a 3.63 GPA while studying Chemistry and finally,
Delainey Zock has turned in a 3.96 while studying Wildlife Biology. Zock, a sophomore, is from Anchorage, Alaska.
The Nanooks are currently midway through their regular-season. They compete in Seattle, Wash. this weekend for their Nationals Preview and will race at the GNAC Championships in two weeks.
