FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks athletic department and Director of Athletics, Brock Anundson, have announced Kellie Lafferty as the newest Assistant AD for Marketing, Sponsorships and Fan Engagement.
Lafferty's first day is Monday, Oct. 10.
"We are excited to announce Kellie Lafferty as our new Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, Sponsorships and Fan Engagement." Said Anundson, "Kellie adds valuable depth in experience from previous NCAA institutions, which will allow us to expand on our rich Alaska Nanook Athletics tradition. Her innovative mindset will assist in enhancing and further engaging the UAF community and beyond."
Laffery comes to the Nanooks' department after spending nearly two years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Grand Canyon University. There she served as the primary media contact for men's and women's golf, women's volleyball and softball. She helped coordinate the publicity and public relations of select teams, student-athletes and coaches through the GCU athletics website and social media platforms. Prior to her experience at GCU, Lafferty spent half a year with Fresno Pacific in Fresno, Calif. as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. There she served as the primary media contact for women's volleyball, women's basketball, women's tennis, swim and dive, track and field and both men's and women's water polo. Alongside her publicity coordination and public relations duties, she was a graphic designer and content producer for all athletic teams, was responsible for promotions, halftime entertainment and fan engagement at games.
She began her career in athletics at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. in August 2018. There she was the Assistant Sports Information Director. Lafferty was the NCAA Division III Women's and Ethnic Minority Grant Recipient, which is a two-year program that provides opportunities for growth and advancement in athletics administrations for women and minorities at 20 Division III colleges and universities.
Lafferty is a graduate from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. There she played Division I softball, winning the America East Conference Championship in 2013, was an All-Tournament Award Recipient in 2013, and won the America East regular-season championship in 2014 and 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in May of 2016 before earning her Master of Liberal Art with a concentration in Athletics from Stony Brook in May of 2018. During her graduate period, she was a Graduate Assistant in the Stony Brook athletics department, overseeing interns, working the 2016 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championships, and serving as the direct media contact for men's and women's cross country, women's tennis, men's and women's track & field, and softball.
