MIDWAY, Utah - After day two of the Utah Invitational, the Nanooks Nordic ski team is in fifth place after the men picked up 36 points and the women's team picked up 52. They now have 221 heading into the final day tomorrow.
On day two of the Utah Invitational, the women's team raced in a 10k classic. Alaska had four racers finish as
Kendall Kramer finished seventh in the RMISA standings, racing to a time of 31:33.9 for 25 RMISA points.
Rosie Fordham was the next Nanook to finish the women's race, placing 18th in the RMISA standings with a time of 35:12.8. This earned the Nanooks women's team 14 RMISA points. The Berrigan sisters were the final Alaska racers to cross the line as
Rya Berrigan took 22nd for 13 points and a time of 38:14.9 and
Aila Berrigan took 23rd with a time of 40:02.4.
In the U.S. Nationals standings, Kramer placed 27th, Fordham placed 70th,
Rya Berrigan placed 120th and
Aila Berrigan placed 130th.
On the men's side, the Nanooks had just two racers.
Mike Ophoff was the top-finisher for Alaska, finishing eighth in the men's 15k classic, with a time of 42:01.5. This earned Alaska 25 RMISA points. The final Nanooks men's racer was
Patrick Marbacher, who finished 29th with a time of 54:57.4 and 11 RMISA points.
In the U.S. Nationals standings, Ophoff took 16th and Marbacher took 177th.
The Nanooks end their time at the Utah Invitational tomorrow, Jan. 7 at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center.
