2021 Online Schedule
 
FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team and head coach Brian Scott have officially announced their 2021 season schedule. The 'Nooks will host 14 home-games including the entirety of the 2021 Nanook Classic and their Blue/Gold Scrimmage.
 
Alaska will open their season on Saturday, August 21 with their annual Blue/Gold Scrimmage at 7:00 p.m. at the Patty Center. Following the scrimmage, the Nanooks hit the road to kick-off their regular-season in Hawaii. On Aug. 27, 2021 their campaign begins at Hawaii Pacific in Kaneohe, HI. Their next day consists of two games against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific. Aug. 29 will end their time on the island of Oahu with one final matchup versus Chaminade. 
 
The Nanooks return to Alaska on Sept. 2, playing at in Anchorage at the Seawolf Invitational. On Sept. 2, the Nanooks will face-off with Central Missouri. The next day, Friday, Sept. 3, they will play the University of Indianapolis and Biola University. They end their time in Anchorage with Texas A&M-International on Sept. 4. Following the Seawolf Invitational, the 'Nooks prepare to host their own tournament, the 2021 Nanook Classic from Sept. 9 until Sept. 11. Alaska Anchorage, CSU Pueblo, Cal State LA, Drury, Ursuline and the 'Nooks will see a total of 12 games played at the Patty Center. 
 
The Nanooks have their first home-court test on Sept. 9, playing Cal State LA in the 7:30 p.m. game. The following night they will face-off with Drury University and close with a two-game final day on Sept. 11 playing Ursuline and CSU Pueblo at noon and 7:30 p.m.
 
GNAC conference play officially starts on Sept. 16 on the road at Western Oregon. The 'Nooks will then head to Saint Martin's on Sept. 18. They will open up their home-conference schedule on Sept. 23 with Seattle Pacific, followed by Montana State Billings on Sept. 25. Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 will give the Nanooks their first international trip since 2019 as they open up at Simon Fraser (B.C.) before traveling to Western Washington. They return home on Oct. 7 and 9 to face-off with the Nighthawks of NNU and Wildcats of Central Washington. They will stay in Alaska on Oct. 16 and face Alaska Anchorage at the Alaska Airlines Center on the UAA campus before hopping to Montana to take on Billings on Oct. 21. Following MSUB, they play SPU in Seattle on Oct. 23. 
 
Five of the final seven games will be played in Fairbanks. Oct. 28 and 30 will see the Nanooks host the Vikings of WWU and Simon Fraser before their final road-trip. On Nov. 4 and 6 they will head to Ellensburg, Wash. to play Central Washington and on Nov. 6 they will face Northwest Nazarene. Their final home-stretch consists of UAA, Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. On Nov. 13, Anchorage will come to town before SMU on Nov. 18 and WOU on Nov. 20 for Senior Night to end the regular-season. 
 
Head coach Brian Scott is excited about the schedule he and his assistant Meagan Woods put together, he feels they'll face some of the top competition and can't wait to see the intense rivalries and battles take place on the road and in the Patty, "We are excited about the upcoming season. We have many returning starters who are motivated to perform well this season. We have intentionally included competition with some of the best teams in the region in an effort to prepare ourselves at a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. Returning to the Patty Center gym will be our Nanook Classic tournament, and it is loaded with talented teams from all across the country. It is going to be fun to spend an extra weekend playing in front of the best fans in the GNAC. Over the last few years, GNAC competition has gotten extremely tough and this year will prove to be the same. We can't wait for the battles and rivalries that will take place each week during GNAC play. It will be a great year for volleyball!"
 
Season-tickets and individual tickets will be available in the coming weeks. Information will be released via social media and online once available.
