KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA, who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. 
 
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution. 
4. Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I institution with an NABC member coach. 

 The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team received three honors for 2020-21. Zac Olmsted, Matthew Scarboro and Alex Sommerfield were all named for their academic success during the 2020-21 year. 
 
Olmsted, a senior from Poulsbo, Wash., has maintained a 3.93 GPA while studying Business Administration during his time in Fairbanks. Scarboro, a junior from North Pole, Alaska, has maintained a 3.2 GPA while studying Civil Engineering and Sommerfield, a 2021-grad from Federal Way, Wash., ended his time in Fairbanks with a 4.0 GPA over the span of two years. He graduated with a B.A. in Digital Journalism. 
 
Head coach Greg Sparling applauded his current and former athletes' ability to get it done on both the court and in the classroom, "This is a nice honor for our student-athletes to be recognized by the NABC at the national level. I am very proud of Zac, Matthew and Alex who excelled in the classroom and on the floor. A nice award and well deserved."
