CALDWELL, Idaho – The Alaska Nanooks cross country team competed in the Ice Chipper race on Friday, Feb. 5. The race, hosted by The College of Idaho, featured Alaska, College of Idaho, Northwest Nazarene and Eastern Oregon.Â

Sarah Olson was the lone female racer to make the trip for Alaska. She finished 20
th place with a time of 18:14.20. The women's race consisted of 27 as they competed in a 4k race. On the men's side, the Nanooks sent
Zephan Ozturgut and
Jack Cater. Ozturgut grabbed the top finishing spot for the men's duo, finishing 15
th. He posted a time of 21:11.97.Â

Cater, a freshman from Fairbanks, Alaska, broke into his collegiate career with a 24
th place finish. He crossed the finish line with a time of 24:25.24. The men competed in a 6k race.Â

No timetable is set on when the Nanooks will compete next, but Cater is excited to improve and learn, "I think just running more together with my team, today, I got pretty spread out, being able to run with more people and having more experience will just make it better."
