FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team is looking for the community's help as they choose a new song to celebrate when the Nanooks score.
The team plans to unveil the new song Nov. 19-20 when the Nanooks face Omaha at the Carlson Center. Fans can vote for the Nanooks' new goal song on
Twitter, on the
Alaska Nanooks Hockey Facebook page or through this
Google Docs Poll.
The Nanooks are retiring the previous goal song, "Rock n' Roll Part II" by Gary Glitter, a move that's in line with other athletics organizations nationally. In recent years, organizations such as the NHL, NBA and MLB have banned the song from arenas and events due to Glitter's criminal history.
The songs under consideration for the new goal song are:
- Live in the Moment - Portugal. The Man
- Song 2 - Blur
- Bro Hymn - Pennywise
- Fuel - Metallica
The deadline for voting is Friday, Nov. 11.
