PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced their 2021 GNAC Volleyball All-Conference Team on Tuesday, Nov. 23. On the list, two Nanook volleyball players were honored. 
 
"Congrats to both of these awesome athletes and the teammates that help make them great." Said head coach Brian Scott, "This is a well-deserved recognition for the many sacrifices and hours of work they put into the sport they love."
 
Sophie Schilling and Cate Whiting were the Alaska representatives on this year's All-Conference Team. Schilling earned her first honor, being selected to the All-GNAC Honorable Mention Team while Cate Whiting ended her career in the blue and gold with one more honor. She earned her third GNAC First-Team selection after posting career numbers in the 2021 season. On the season, Schilling, a sophomore middle-blocker from Berlin, Germany, posted 245 kills for an average of 2.21 per set. Alongside her attack numbers, she was efficient, posting a .292 season attack percentage. At the net, Schilling totaled 121 blocks, including 12 solo, tying her for 22^nd in NCAA DII total-blocks at the end of the regular-season. She averaged 1.09 blocks per set. 
 
Whiting ended a storied-career in Fairbanks. She posted career-highs in assists, service-aces, digs, digs per set and tied her career-high in kills. The senior setter from Rapid City, S.D. tallied 1084 assists, besting her previous best of 1028, posted in 2019. This gave her an assists per set average of 9.6. She added a hit percentage of .300 and 102 kills to go alongside her distribution numbers and played a key-role in the defensive efforts as well. She picked up 386 digs for an average of 3.4 digs per set and added 56 total blocks, tallying one solo. 
 
She ends her career fifth in career attack percentage, second all-time in program history for assists and sixth all-time in program history for digs.
 
The Nanooks season came to an end on Saturday, Nov. 20 with Alaska sweeping the Western Oregon Wolves. They ended their season 18-12, 11-7 GNAC.
