Omaha Sweeps Nanooks Hockey at Home

FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell to Omaha for the second-straight night on Saturday, Nov. 20 in the Carlson Center. This loss drops the Nanooks to 1-9-0.

After a five-minute major and ejection put the Nanooks down a man, Omaha capitalized for three goals in the first, two of which came on the power play. They began 8:03 into the first with a goal from Cameron Berg, assisted by Brannon McManus. Just under a minute and a half later, Ty Mueller made it 2-0 with a goal from Brandon Scanlin and Taylor Ward. Just over a minute later, the Omaha damage was done in the first. Brock Bremer connected on the second PP goal of the night, making it 3-0 Omaha.

The Nanooks grabbed one back 1:56 into the second as Garrett Pyke scored his first-career goal in the blue and gold. Filip Fornaa Svensson and Brady Risk were awarded assists. This made it 3-1 Mavs. It soon became a 4-1 game as early in the third Bremer connected again. Didrik Henbrant slotted home another Nanooks goal midway through the third, but that's where the scoring ended.

Alaska fell 4-2 to Omaha and will hit the road for next weekend's matchup at Minnesota Duluth.
