TAMPA, Florida – We're one day away from the 2021 DII NCAA Cross Country Championships in Saint Leo, Fla. Saint Leo University will be hosting the event and the Nanooks will be represented by three-individual racers.
Last Time Out
The Nanooks sent four women's racers to the NCAA Regionals in Monmouth, Ore. earlier this month. After an injury cost them their fifth runner, Alaska could not qualify for a team result. That did not hold the 'Nooks back as they pushed across fourth, fifth, sixth and 33
rd-place finishes.
Rosie Fordham grabbed the fourth-place finish with a time of 21:34.4 time.
Kendall Kramer took fifth with a time of 21:36.1 and
Naomi Bailey grabbed sixth with a time of 21:41.7.
Delainey Zock was the final racer for Alaska and took home 33
rd with a time of 22:25.1.
History Books
This season has been one for the ages. The Alaska Nanooks women's team was picked ninth in the GNAC Preseason Poll. They used that as fuel and earned two GNAC Weekly Awards and placed third at the 2021 GNAC Championships, proving to everyone that Alaska was here to compete. Bailey, Fordham and Kramer are all headed to Nationals as freshman and Zock, also a freshman, helped make up quite a foursome for the 'Nooks.
Nationals
This is the first time Alaska has had representatives at the NCAA Championships since the 2011 Women's XC Team qualified and took 17
th.

All-West Region
With their finishes, the three-headed monster of Bailey, Fordham and Kramer earned All-West Regional honors. Their finishes of four-five-six helped solidify their spots in the region. Fordham, in all races this season, never finished lower than fourth while Kramer and Bailey both found early success, winning the first two races of the season.
Saint Leo
Saint Leo University was the site of the 2016 NCAA Championships. The racers are looking at a high of 74 degrees with a 40% chance of precipitation and 14 mph winds. They are calling for sun breakage at race time and a high of 79 with a chance of more rain following the races.
