Hockey Suffers Another OT Loss to Cornell; Heading Into Back-to-Back Bye Weeks

ITHACA, New York – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell to Cornell on the road, completing their three-week road trip. Cornell grabbed the win after three scoreless regulation periods. For the second-consecutive night the Big Red defeated Alaska in overtime.

Despite three power play opportunities in the first period, the Nanooks were shutout for the first time this season. They were able to put 20 shots on goal, but it was not enough to get one past Joe Howe, goalie for Cornell.

Gustavs Davis Grigals stopped the first 24 shots-on-goal. He stopped seven in the first period, 10 in the second period and seven in the third period. Unfortunately, for the second night in a row the Nanooks fell in overtime. Only 1:20 into the 3-on-3 overtime, while on the power play, Matt Stienburg found the winner, giving Cornell the lone-goal of the night and the 0-1 win over Alaska.

The Nanooks have two bye weeks before hosting Omaha on Nov. 19-20 at the Carlson Center.
