POTSDAM, New York - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team dropped their first game in New York at Clarkson on Friday, Oct. 22. Clarkson posted five goals, including four in the opening-period, to put away Alaska, 1-5. This drops the Nanooks to 1-4-0 on the season.
Clarkson had a heavy-hitting first period, scoring four goals, all on the power-play, to open the game. 6:33 into the game, Anthony Romano scored off of a pass from Ayrton Martino. Only three and a half minutes later, Clarkson struck again. This time was Alex Campbell, taking passes from Lukas Kaelble and Martino. Zach Tsekos scored on an unassisted puck 16:45 into the period and Lukas Kaelble topped it off with a goal at the end of the first with two seconds remaining.
CU took a comfortable 0-4 lead into the first intermission.
The Golden Knights added one more in the second with Luke Santerno scoring 13:47 into the period. Alaska managed to get on the board in the third period, showing some fight 10:46 into the third as
Antti Virtanen found
Brady Risk who then picked up the assists on a
Jakob Breault shot in front of the net. This was Breault's first career-point and goal.
The Nanooks and Clarkson are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 23, at 3:00 p.m.
