POTSDAM, New York – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell to Clarkson on day two of their two-game series. After an early lead, Clarkson scored four unanswered goals, taking the win 2-4 over Alaska. This loss drops the Nanooks to 1-5-0.
The Nanooks started the scoring in the second period after a scoreless first period.
Roberts Kalkis opened it 5:16 into the second period;
Colin Doyle and
Caleb Hite were credited with the assists. Six and a half minutes later, the Nanooks tacked on another, this time it was
Jakob Breault slotting the puck in the back of the net with
Antti Virtanen and Kalkis being credited with the assists.
Alaska held the lead for a total of 12:45 minutes. Clarkson, both on the power play, grabbed two goals in the span of 3:06 minutes. Alex Campbell scored the first and Zach Tsekos grabbed the latter. After tying the game at 2-2, Clarkson scored again, only 24 seconds later. Luke Santerno gave Clarkson the lead, 2-3 with 1:35 remaining in the middle period.
Santerno added one more 18:12 into the final period, putting the game out of reach on an empty-net goal.
The Nanooks posted 34 shots on goal. Clarkson put 21 of their own on net as
Gustavs Davis Grigals made 17 saves. The Nanooks will continue their road trip with a trip to Cornell next weekend.
