Nanooks of the Week
Female: 2019-20 Nanooks women's basketball team – The 'Nooks ended the season just over a week ago, tallying more wins in overall games and conference play than the previous season. 
 
Male: 2019-20 Senior Hockey players – The Nanooks season ended this weekend in the WCHA Quarterfinals, ending the illustrious careers of 10 blue and gold greats. 
 
Rifle 5-3, 5-3 PRC
LAST: NCAA Qualifiers | NEXT: NCAA Rifle National Championships
The lone Nanook is set to shoot at the NCAA Rifle National Championships this Friday at the University of Kentucky. Kellen McAferty will represent Alaska, giving them a shooter at the Finals for the 33rd consecutive year. While the team streak ended at 32 years, Layne Lewis is excited to see McAferty perform, "Kellen has been our strongest athlete all year, posting some of the highest smallbore scores in the NCAA this season. I am very proud of Kellen for qualifying for Championships and representing the Nanooks." McAferty will compete on Friday, March 13.

Nordic Ski
LAST: RMISA Championships | NEXT: NCAA Nordic Ski Championships 
The Nanooks ski team is sending five skiers to the NCAA Ski Championships this week with the races beginning on Thursday, March 12. The women's team is sending Anja Maijala and Mariel Pulles and they will race in a 5km skate with individual start on Thursday before starting a 20km classic with mass start on Saturday, March 14. On the men's side, the 'Nooks are sending Tristan Sayre, Mike Ophoff and Logan Mowry. They will race in a 10km skate with individual on Thursday, followed by the same 20km classic mass start on Saturday. This is an improvement for Alaska after sending only four skiers last season.
